Qatar: Conditions eased to be Uber driver during World Cup

The Peninsula, 31 October 2022: Qatar’s Ministry of Transport and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) have announced they will relax conditions for residents who wish to register as drivers on ride-sharing apps for the duration of the World Cup.

The move has been made to cope with an expected surge in demand during the tournament.

The SC has confirmed that residents will not need to register with a limousine company or be designated as a ‘driver’ on their identification cards before applying to become a driver on ride-sharing apps.

The relaxed requirements apply to drivers over 21 with a vehicle manufactured from 2017 to 2022 and a valid Qatar ID and driving license.
