OVERVIEW
Parties to an arbitration seated in the UAE can seek interim remedies from the court or the arbitral tribunal. The UAE courts have general jurisdiction to grant interim relief, and a party can apply to the court for interim measures such as precautionary attachment or preservation of goods or evidence, pending outcome of the arbitration proceedings. Article 18 of Federal Law No. 6/2018 on Arbitration also refers to the general jurisdiction of the competent courts in the UAE to examine arbitration matters for arbitrations seated in UAE. Federal Law No. 6/2018 defines the court as a Federal Court or local Court of Appeal. Federal Law No. 6/2018 also contains provisions on the powers of an arbitral tribunal to order interim and precautionary measures.
