Bahrain: Shoura Council to Consider Draft Artificial Intelligence Law

Gulf Daily News, 1 March 2024: Bahrain’s Shoura Council is going to consider a draft Artificial Intelligence Law at its next session.

If approved, the Law would regulate Artificial Intelligence.

There would be penalties for violations. These would include jail terms of at least three years or fines of up to 2,000 Dinars.

It was proposed by five MPs.

If it is approved it will be sent to the relevant Council Committee to consider.

Ajman: New Government Services to be Launched News developments

Ajman: Workforce Planning Guidelines Approved

Al Bayan, 1 March 2024: A representative of Ajman’s Ruler with responsibility for Administrative and Financial Affairs has issued a Decision on the adoption of workforce planning guidelines in the Emirate’s government.

The Decision aims to support and enable government agencies to make strategic decisions based on accurate data and find more effective solutions to meet their human resource needs.

It states that the Human Resources Department will directly supervise all necessary procedures for its implementation and take any measures necessary to ensure optimal implementation, together with the relevant authorities. This will include issuing circulars, executive decisions, forms, and appendices.

It has been issued to establish a unified mechanism for planning human resources in government agencies.

Ajman: New Government Services to be Launched News developments

Ajman: New Free Zone to be Established

Arabian Business, 14 January 2024: Ajman’s Ruler has issued an Emiri Decree to establish a new free zone in the Emirate.

Ajman Emiri Decree No. 15/2023 establishes the Ajman Centre for New Projects (Free Zone).

It will report to the government and will have its own legal personality as well as financial and administrative independence.

It will have legal capacity to achieve its objectives and exercise its powers and duties.

The Centre will be responsible for improving the Emirate’s position as a leading investment destination, attracting more foreign investment across various economic activities and helping to develop its capacity as a developed hub for global trade.

It will also be responsible for contributing to boosting the Emirate’s sustainable economic diversification and growth by encouraging all types of economic and investment projects.

In addition, it will be responsible for creating a flexible and conducive investment climate for creative and innovative projects.

They have also issued Ajman Emiri Decree No. 1/2024 appointing Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi as the Centre’s Chairman.

Both Emiri Decrees will be published in the Official Gazette and come into force on their issued date.

Ajman: New Government Services to be Launched

Al Bayan, 15 October 2023: The Ajman Digital Department has announced that 12 government and private entities are going to announce more than 40 new services.

They will be launched on the Ajman Government Platform to simplify the customer journey and provide an easy and smooth experience for partners and community members.

The Head of the Port and Customs Department said that the Department intends to launch a package of digital technical innovations including a wide range of fields, including the customs and maritime sectors.

They will also sign more than 10 partnership and cooperation agreements with government and private entities, to explore the latest global innovations and technologies, and build new partnerships to improve the digital transformation process in the Emirate.
