Dr. Yassin EL SHAZLY is an Associate professor of Commercial & Maritime Law at Ain Shams University (on Leave). Dr. Shazly holds a bachelor and Master degrees from Ain Shams University and a doctoral degree in Business Law from Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, France. He also holds a Master’s degree in law from Ain ​​Shams University and Lyon 2-France and a Master’s degree in political science from Jean Moulin Lyon 3- France and as well as comparative law Diploma in English and American Law.

Dr. Shazly is a well known academic with teaching experiences in various reputable academic institutions such as the American University in Cairo (AUC), Nile University, ESLSCA university, French University in Egypt, Bordeaux University, Lyon3 University and Qatar University where he served as the Associate Dean for Outreach and Community Engagement.

Dr. Shazly has an extensive practical experience in the field of Consultancy and negotiating and drafting business contracts and he served as a legal counsel in many multi-jurisdictional cases and draft legal opinions in complexed transaction of various areas of law. He was also appointed as Arbitrator and Expert in many cases mainly in the field of construction, corporate law and administrative law disputes. He served as an arbitrator under QICCA and as “Legal Expert” in ICC cases. He also appears in the roaster of the General Authority for Investment (GAFI) dispute resolution center.

Dr. Shazly was assigned as Legal Expert for international projects granted by the African Union and the European Union. He also served as Legal Advisor to the chairman of the Financial Supervisory Authority (Egypt) and as a Legal Counsel at the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (Egypt). Dr. Shazly started his career as a member of commissioners assembly of the Supreme Administrative court in the Egyptian State Council and he was also appointed at the public prosecutor office in Egypt.

Dr. Shazly has a hands-on experience in organizing and delivering legal training courses especially in the field of banking transactions, intellectual property, corporate law, media law, governance, and dispute resolution methods. He is a certified trainer from the International finance corporation (IFC). He is also a regular speaker in regional and international legal conferences.

Concerning the scientific research, Dr. Shazly published around forty peer reviewed articles in different languages (Arabic-English-French) and he continues to publish his wok in different areas of Business law especially corporate law, e-commerce, transportation law, arbitration and dispute resolution methods, investment law, intellectual property and capital market.  He published several academic books including Principles of Egyptian Commercial law, The new Qatari corporate law, published by LexisNexis and co-authored books on Commercial papers and banking transaction, principles of Qatari commercial law and recently another book on the new Qatari Arbitration law, published by the Minister of Justice.

Elisabeth Zakharia Sioufi is a lawyer, member of the Beirut Bar Association since 1980, with expertise in Corporate Law, Human Rights Law, and International Criminal Law. She is a lecturer on freedom of religion and human rights at the Faculty of Religious Sciences at Saint Joseph University in Beirut. She is currently the Director of the Institute for Human Rights of the Beirut Bar Association and the President of the Women’s Committee at the International Association of Lawyers (Union Internationale des Avocats, UIA), where she was previously the President of the Human Rights Commission for 5 years. She is a consultant on Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, and International Criminal Law. She led many seminars and workshops in Lebanon and Europe and wrote articles on different human rights topics such as trafficking in persons, violence against women, children at risk, implementation of international conventions, human rights in places of detention, prevention of torture. In 2017-2018, Elisabeth was the advisor to the Ministry of Human Rights Affairs in Lebanon. In 2018, she received the Gold Medal from the Beirut Bar Association for her achievements towards the Bar, and in 2014, she was awarded by the US Department of State for combating trafficking in persons.
