Yassin EL SHAZLY is Professor of Commercial Law at Ain Shams University (on leave), Attorney at law ( admitted at the Egyptian Supreme Court) and Founding Partner of Al-Feshawy & El-Shazly Law firm. Currently, he is based in Qatar as he works as Assistant professor of commercial law at Qatar University where he served as the Associate Dean for Outreach and Community Engagement at the college of law He has extensive teaching experience in regional and international universities, such as Bordeaux University (France), Lyon3 University (France), Ain Shams University ( Egypt) and the American University in Cairo.
Dr. Shazly holds a doctoral degree in Business Law from Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, France. He also holds a Master’s degree in law from Ain Shams University and Lyon 2-France and a Master’s degree in political science from Jean Moulin Lyon 3- France.
Dr. Shazly serves on part-time basis Legal Counsel for the legal affairs department of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (Qatar) and a member of the Audit Committee at Qatar financial market authority (QFMA) and he had advised the Ministry of Justice (Qatar) – the Arbitration department. He was also assigned as Legal Expert for international projects granted by the African Union and the European Union. He also served as Legal Advisor to the chairman of the Financial Supervisory Authority (Egypt) and as a Legal Counsel at the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (Egypt).
Dr. Shazly has an extensive practical experience in the field of negotiating and drafting business contracts and he served as a legal counsel in many cases and draft legal opinions in various areas of business law matters. He is regularly appointed as Arbitrator and legal expert in disputes under varios rules ( ICC, QICCA) in the field of construction, disputes corporate law, and contract law disputes. Dr. Shazly started his career as a member of the Supreme Administrative court in the Egyptian State Council and he was also appointed at the public prosecutor office in Egypt.
Dr. Shazly has a hands-on experience in organizing and delivering legal training courses especially in the field of banking transactions, intellectual property, corporate law, media law, governance and dispute resolution methods. He is a certified trainer from the International finance corporation (IFC).
Concerning the scientific research, Dr. Shazly published around fifty peer reviewed articles in different languages (Arabic-English-French) and he continues to publish his wok in different areas of Business law especially corporate law, e-commerce, transportation law, arbitration and dispute resolution methods, investment law, intellectual property and capital market. He published a book on the new Qatari corporate law, published by LexisNexis and recently another book on the new Qatari Arbitration law, published by the Ministry of Justice.
