Qatar: New Building Permit Requirements Guide Issued

The Peninsula, 7 August 2022: Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality has announced it has issued the first edition of the Guide of Requirements and Services for the Building Permit System in Qatar.

They have issued the third edition of the Building Requirements Guide.

They have been issued to support the real estate sector in the country.

The Guide of Requirements and Services for the Building Permit System in Qatar is aimed at introducing a list of engineering documents and requirements and the permits required from other service authorities when building applications are submitted.

The third edition of the Building Requirements Guide aims to clarify the list of documents, information, plans and engineering drawings which must be attached when submitting applications, as well as the other service authorities required to obtain permits and approvals from them and the forms used by them, according to the types of buildings in the building applications submitted through the electronic building permit system.

The main reasons for rejecting building applications in the electronic building permit system are also mentioned in the guide.

Qatar: Penalty for Issuing, Selling or Exchanging World Cup Tickets Without Licence Clarified

Al-Sharq, 27 July 2022: Qatar’s Justice Ministry has clarified the penalty for issuing, selling, reselling or exchanging World Cup tickets without a licence from FIFA.

Under Qatar Law No. 10/2021 on measures to host the World Cup, anyone who issues, sells, resells or exchanges tickets without a licence from FIFA will be fined up 250,000 Riyals.

Qatar: Limit Imposed on Cash Transactions

Gulf Times, 26 July 2022: Qatar’s Central Bank has announced limits have been imposed on cash transactions.

The decision has been made in line with Qatar Cabinet Decision No. 10/2022, banning the use of cash in transactions exceeding 50,000 Riyals in value.

The Decision applies to the sale, purchase and rental of all properties or modifications. It also applies to all kinds of vehicles and their unique numbers, maritime transportation, all precious metals, gemstones and jewellery, single camels, horses, livestock and falcons, or flocks.

Al-Sharq, 6 July 2022: Qatar’s Communications Regulatory Authority has announced it has issued a Cloud Computing Handbook for SMEs.

The handbook provides a simplified explanation for SMEs about what cloud computing is, the meaning of typical cloud contractual provisions, the categories of cloud services and the main points which these entities must pay close attention to before subscribing to these services.

It also includes an annex on the principles of data classification which will help organisations classify their data when moving to cloud computing.

The aim is to facilitate the adoption of cloud computing by these entities on a large scale based on their requirements and objectives and in line with digital development in Qatar. For full story, click here.

The Peninsula, 6 July 2022: Qatar’s Cabinet has approved amendments to Qatari tourism legislation.

They have approved amendments to Qatar Law No. 20/2018 on tourism, Qatar Law No. 21/2018 on business events and Qatar Emiri Decision No. 15/2021 on the establishment of Qatar Tourism.

In addition, they approved a draft agreement on the mutual exemption from entry visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special, official and ordinary passports between Qatar and Mongolia.

Al-Sharq, 4 July 2022: Qatar’s Labour Ministry has issued new heat stress legislation in the country.

The new legislation is aimed at employers and includes a number of innovative procedures.

It obliges employers to protect the health of workers and provide healthy and safe workplaces.

It requires employers to prepare a risk assessment in order to mitigate the risk of heat stress and assign the main contractor the responsibility of coordinating measures to mitigate the effects of heat stress in the event of multiple employers doing business at one site at the same time and obliging them to coordinate and cooperate together in this regard.
