KAPIL KUMRA has over 30 years of experience in Project & Corporate finance (with over 19 years in the GCC). Kapil has been the head of the Project Finance team at Foreign Corporate Group, National Bank of Kuwait, since 2014.

Previously Kapil was with Arab Bank’s Offshore Business Unit at Manama, Bahrain, where he was involved in the origination and execution of Corporate and Project & Structured Finance mandates in the Middle East and South Asia region.

Kapil has worked on a number of PPP projects in Kuwait, including expansion financing of the largest Wastewater Treatment plant and bids for projects tendered by the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP). ZAIN AL ABDIN SHARAR has over 23 years’ experience in the legal field. Prior to joining the QICDRC, Dr. Sharar was the Director of Legal Affairs & Enforcement at the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA). Dr. Sharar also served for three years on the QFMA’s disciplinary committee.

Dr. Sharar has taught corporate law and corporate governance at a number of Australian universities and has provided advice to board members of several Australian publicly listed companies. He worked at Qatar University for three years as an Assistant Professor of Commercial Law, where he taught companies law and arbitration law. He has also taught commercial law and maritime and aviation law at the Ahmad Bin Mohammed Military College in Qatar and has lectured on many topics at the Legal and Judicial Studies Centre at the Qatar Ministry of Justice.

Dr. Sharar is a certified mediator at the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution in London and a qualified arbitrator at the GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre. He has provided mediation and arbitration services in many commercial and construction cases. He also participates in ADR training programmes.

Dr. Sharar has a Bachelor of Laws, a Master’s in International Trade Law, and a Doctor of Legal Sciences from Bond University in Australia, specifically focused on corporate governance.

Ibtissem Lassoued has extensive experience advising international clients on a spectrum of
complex, multijurisdictional white collar crime issues, including but not limited to anti-money
laundering and counter-terrorist financing, global economic sanctions, anti-corruption issues
including the extraterritorial effect of the US FCPA and UK Bribery act, complex fraud, extradition
and INTERPOL notices, and Capital Market investigations. Ibtissem offers clients a full and practical

Dr. Yassin EL SHAZLY is an Associate professor of Commercial & Maritime Law at Ain Shams University (on Leave). Dr. Shazly holds a bachelor and Master degrees from Ain Shams University and a doctoral degree in Business Law from Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, France. He also holds a Master’s degree in law from Ain ​​Shams University and Lyon 2-France and a Master’s degree in political science from Jean Moulin Lyon 3- France and as well as comparative law Diploma in English and American Law.

Dr. Shazly is a well known academic with teaching experiences in various reputable academic institutions such as the American University in Cairo (AUC), Nile University, ESLSCA university, French University in Egypt, Bordeaux University, Lyon3 University and Qatar University where he served as the Associate Dean for Outreach and Community Engagement.

Dr. Shazly has an extensive practical experience in the field of Consultancy and negotiating and drafting business contracts and he served as a legal counsel in many multi-jurisdictional cases and draft legal opinions in complexed transaction of various areas of law. He was also appointed as Arbitrator and Expert in many cases mainly in the field of construction, corporate law and administrative law disputes. Dr. Shazly started his career as a member of commissioners assembly of the Supreme Administrative court in the Egyptian State Council and he was also appointed at the public prosecutor office in Egypt.

Dr. Shazly has a hands-on experience in organizing and delivering legal training courses especially in the field of banking transactions, intellectual property, corporate law, media law, governance, and dispute resolution methods. He is a certified trainer from the International finance corporation (IFC). He is also a regular speaker in regional and international legal conferences.

Concerning the scientific research, Dr. Shazly published around forty peer reviewed articles in different languages (Arabic-English-French) and he continues to publish his wok in different areas of Business law especially corporate law, e-commerce, transportation law, arbitration and dispute resolution methods, investment law, intellectual property and capital market.  He published several academic books including Principles of Egyptian Commercial law, The new Qatari corporate law, published by LexisNexis and co-authored books on Commercial papers and banking transaction, principles of Qatari commercial law and recently another book on the new Qatari Arbitration law, published by the Minister of Justice.
