Dr. Aladwani specialises in advising clients on disputes in shipping, international trade, commodities, marine insurance, ships building and dry docking, marine operation and chartering, ships sales, carriage of goods by sea, air and land, and IP. He was appointed by the IMO as a team leader to assist several countries in reforming their commercial and maritime laws. Also, he is a former IMO Maritime Ambassador. Dr. Aladwani consulted governments on matters related to law of the sea. He has drafted the National SAR Plan of Kuwait and wrote several publications (books, articles, and conference papers ) on common law, carriage of goods, maritime law, law of the sea, admiralty law, rules of engagement, and IP law. He has several years of seagoing experience.

Paula is Head of Construction Engineering & Projects for the Middle East Region. Based in Bahrain since 2006, she specialises in construction projects throughout the region, in particular Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. Her extensive experience includes real estate and development, regeneration, infrastructure and utilities, hotels, leisure and tourism, residential, industrial and commercial, education and healthcare, both in the private and public sectors.

Paula acts on behalf of government and regulatory clients including Ministry of Works, project employers and developers, lenders and investors, contractors, subcontractors and consultants. Projects Paula has worked on include Shangri-La Oman, Bahrain National Assembly, Durrat Al Bahrain, Doha Convention Center, Bahrain Bay to include Four Seasons Hotel, Riffa Views, Diyar Al Muharraq, Bahrain Airport, King Abdullah Medical City, Education City Doha, Lusail Doha, Investment Gateway Bahrain and Reef Island.

  • Dhana started her practice as a junior lawyer before the Supreme Court of India in the year 2004 assisting on Income Tax, Economic Scams and Custom Duty matters. During her study period in the Netherlands, she worked with IBFD on their publications on Indian Tax Judgements. After completing an LLM Adv. in International Taxation from the Netherlands, she worked with Deloitte for four years in Rotterdam, Bangalore and Muscat, and then with Dentons for four years in Muscat. She was working with OMRAN, the Oman government’s arm for developing Tourism in Oman, and she was the legal adviser for their mixed use waterfront developments.
  • Dhana joined Al Hashmi Law in 2017 as the Head of Property, Tax and Project Finance. Dhana has been writing in Islamic Finance News, a daily magazine since 2018 on topics relating to Islamic Finance and Tax. Dhana gives guest lectures at Modern College for Business Studies and is a member of Energy Majlis organized by the Netherlands Embassy in Oman and presents on renewable energy project financing and Renewable Energy Certificates.
